Felipe Drugovich expressed his eagerness to prioritize Formula 1 by potentially missing his scheduled Le Mans 24 Hours entry with Cadillac to stand in for the injured Lance Stroll at the Canadian Grand Prix. Stroll had to withdraw from the Spanish GP due to lingering pain from a previous cycling injury in 2023, leading Aston Martin to not be able to field a replacement driver as per F1 regulations. This left Drugovich unable to step in at Barcelona, where Fernando Alonso raced alone and finished ninth in the absence of Stroll. With Stroll’s recovery timeline uncertain, Drugovich may have to choose between Le Mans and the Canadian GP, with indications that he would favor the latter due to his F1 aspirations. Aston Martin’s other reserve driver, Stoffel Vandoorne, also faces a clash with Le Mans, while exploring options like tapping into Mercedes’ reserve driver Valtteri Bottas for the Canadian GP remains a possibility.
